Nathan was different and Sally knew it. From his early childhood, Nathan was bursting with creativity and uncontainable energy, struggling not only with learning issues but also with anxiety and OCD. He saw the world through his own unique lens - one that often caused him to be labeled as "bad", "troubled", or someone in need of "fixing". Bravely choosing to listen to her motherly intuition rather than the loud voices of the world, Sally dared to believe that Nathan's differences could be part of an intentional design.

Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery, rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive. M Is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom.

For parents and teachers alike
I am thoroughly enjoying reading 'Awaking Wonder'. This is a fantastic book to read, whether you're a parent or a teacher. I love how Sally reminds the reader that children are born with the innate desire to wonder, to imagine, to be creative and to learn. They do not need the pressure of testing and of sitting still and quietly. What really challenged me was how Sally described parenting children being like Jesus walking with and teaching his disciples. While I like to think I'm a fairly gentle parent, it challenged me to ask Jesus to continuously help me with my parenting... to be gentle, kind, patient and always loving. Children so deserve it. Thank you, Sally, for writing this book. What a blessing it has been to me and I'm sure many others.

Give it a go.
My husband says the authors reading style is how a physiatrist talks, at first it kind of threw me.... but it's so relaxing to listen to if your busy doing something at the same time. I enjoy how easy it is to picture her scenarios and my children listen along with me whilst we are painting or having breakfast. I love her mindset and I would recommend giving it a go.

so inspirational and insightful
I really found her story of how they raised thier children in the faith and love of God. using literature to inspire creativity and letting each child grow and develop at thier own pace and overcome what main stream would consider a defect in one of her children. I liver her honesty in talking about her struggles and pitfalls as well overcoming those.

Oh Sally! She’s done it again...
If you’ve not been introduced to Sally before you are in for a treat. This book has been so encouraging and helpful for me - not having a Christian example of being a mother and not a clear picture of how, what, where to create wonder, but a great desire to do so. I love getting a clearer picture into their life and home: what it looks like to inspire and create an atmosphere of wonder. Primarily this book is scripturally grounded and Sally gives great insight and wisdom on how to create a wonder filled home that follows Jesus.

Narrator is NOT GOOD
As of now this book has 54 ratings and all are 5 star. I wonder what book they listened to? Maybe this book actually is really good, but I can’t get past the narrator. There is something off about her reading and her apparent disinterest (it’s the author! She should be the MOST interested in this book!). Her sentences all end with voice inflections- it’s REALLY hard to listen to. I actually am considering purchasing the physical book because it started off pretty good before she began droning on and on and on. Maybe the book actually is a five star read- but I will never know based on this audio version because I am giving up. I can’t do 5.5 more hours of this narrator.

Great Content But Distracting Narration
I've only recently discovered the Clarkson family and all their books. They are great--truly inspirational. This audiobook is not for me, but I plan to purchase a hardcopy to read the old fashioned way. I'm not sure if the narrator (the author herself) or the audio producers are to blame, but it is a real shame. I wanted to leave a review just to inform your decision on what version of this book to purchase.

Encouragement for even seasoned homeschool mothers
I don’t know if I’d consider myself seasoned: I’m in my 5th year of homeschooling. I’ve recently hit a wall of discouragement, having thrown our regular curriculum somewhat to the side, except for math, and focused so much more on reading fantastic tales. I think it’s important to note that in my 11 years of parenting, I have resisted reading Sally Clarkson out of an overwhelming sense of inadequacy every time I catch a whiff of her flowery writing style— what a fool I’ve been to have stayed away!
What a Holy Spirit moment to have begun this book in the season of life I’m in, and to have it be THIS book of all of Sally’s books. I am so grateful for it.
Awaking Wonder was a balm to my home educator soul, and a balm to my mothering heart to hear the things which stirred me and my husband in the very first place to consider educating our children at home. What a boost and a happy retreat this book has been, especially to hear Sally’s own voice.
Thank you Sally, for this book. And now to discover the rest of your writing! -C. Svellinger

There is such power in a testimony. I so honor the forerunners, the pioneers of Home Education. These families experienced tremendous opposition and more as they stepped out into a long forgotten art. This book brought me affirmation of my own ideals and hopes, as well as inspired me beyond! Sally is like the mama we all desire to give us that "you got this!" pep talk. She so gently encourages the heart to press on...one foot in front of the other. She pours out so much wisdom. You just HAVE to read/listen to this book!

This book has given me the confidence to homeschool the way I believe God has designed it. I appreciate everything Sally said! My only critique is that I wish she would have said it faster 😆 I had to turn the speed up because she speaks very soft and very slow 😆 besides that excellent!!!
