Critic reviews

"[Suzy] Jackson narrates with verve and also conveys a folksy quality in Bibi's dialogue with friends, her parents, and her boyfriend, a Navy SEAL. With dramatic flair, Jackson collapses the distance between the protagonist and listeners. Her deliberate pacing and Koontz's inventiveness as a storyteller are a terrific pairing." (AudioFile)

I did enjoy the book, but found it a little predictable overall and slow in places. It did pick up towards the end but the 'mystery' of the novel could be unravelled very early on leaving no great payout at the finale.

An interesting, if not all encompassing

I do like a fair few Koontz books but not this one.
It wasn't awful but it was fairly tedious and very drawn out.
I haven't read all his books so I can't say with any real certainty but all the ones with more than a casual mention of surfing seem to be.......meh.

Done.

Painfully slow and drawn out, not one of his best, it was free so can’t complain. it was quite obvious early on where the story was going, then the ending was thrown in, rushed and ended abruptly, it felt like it was rammed in ready for a sequel. Hope not it’s not worth one

Drawn out

I am a massive fan of Dean Koontz but personally struggled with this story. The plot is a good one but felt the story went on too long and more could have taken place in less time. A bit disappointing.

Loved the blending of worlds in the metaphors/books. Koontz once again shows his mastery of storytelling

Another quality tale
