Story
All four series of the hilarious historical sitcom set just before and during the American Revolution. Baltimore, 1770, and shopkeeper Samuel Oliphant has much to worry about. Storm clouds are gathering, business is bad and to make matters worse, he’s been forced to play host to two British soldiers. Hapless officer Captain Brimshaw is decent enough, but his fellow redcoat - the one-eyed, one-eared, one-armed and one-legged Sergeant McGurk - is a shameless rascal obsessed with money and sex.

Jean Paul Sartre said, 'Hell is other people'. But, as Satan will tell you, Hell is actually a fiery, unendingly cruel domain where Oliver Reed can never quite catch the barman's eye and Yves St Laurent is forced to wear a donkey jacket. But Hell is about to become more hellish for Satan himself (Andy Hamilton). Not only is the historian Edith Barrington (Annette Crosbie) taking for ever to write his biography, An Angel Misunderstood, but everything is thrown into confusion when a dog turns up.

It's not easy being Satan. There are the long hours (that stretch into eternity), and Hell seems to have more admissions than it can cope with. One of the new arrivals is Edith, a historian, athlete, and humanitarian. And she's trouble: she refuses to believe she's dead, she knows Thomas, and she's not afraid of Satan. But will the Grand Tour, which includes the Pit of Musicians, the Lake of Fire, and the Pit of Health and Safety Inspectors, finally make her realise where she's ended up?

Summary
Andy Hamilton is a familiar and much-loved voice on Radio 4. With this collection he presents a collection of observations and reminiscences about both his personal life and his 40 years working in comedy.
Andy looks at Childhood, Politics, The Human Body and Animals. Using comic observation and personal anecdotes he explores each theme, examining how much (or how little) things have changed in the 60-ish years he's been on this planet.

Pure gold.
Andy Hamilton is one of the few people who makes me laugh aloud, even when I’ve listened to the same programmes several times. These unreliable memoirs will certainly be revisited regularly in the future - like “Old Harry’s Game”, his sitcom set in Hell, which never fails to cheer me up!

Witty and classic - Satire at its best.
Andy reminisces in his own brilliant way about his career, childhood, politics and life in general and made me laugh so hard so many times I nearly peed myself! (Getting on a bit myself!) He has a great way of making a wide selection of people with very different views laugh (and look ridiculously stupid) but still laugh at them selves! My Dad for one! He loves listening to Andy but politically he is unfortunately in love with the oh so charming beer swigging Nige and is an avid Daily Mail reader(but “only really at the weekend for the television pullout and the word wheel puzzle!”) Andy you are a brilliant star/devil/writer/panelist/actor/bloke who appeals to all and we love you! xx

Great interesting stand up about different subjects in many half-hour programs
This is a great stand up with each individual radio show being about a different subject off kilter and witty really a great lesson for most people younger people will find it interesting on some of the older looks on things with the older listeners getting a different point of you
