About this listen

Heartbreaking. Life-affirming. Truly unforgettable.

Always, in December is the timeless, stay-up-all-night love story we all need right now.

If you loved One Day in December, Me Before You and the hit movie Last Christmas, this is the perfect book for you.

Every December, Josie posts a letter to the parents she lost one Christmas night, many years ago. She always writes the same three words: Missing you, always.

When Josie accidentally collides with a stranger at the postbox, she is unaware that Max has his own reasons for trying to avoid the season...or that their chance encounter is set to alter both their lives - and their hearts - in the most unexpected and beautiful of ways....

Set in London, New York and the gorgeous English countryside, Always, in December is the love story everyone will be talking about this year.

The story was so engaging and I was very invested in the characters throughout. I loved the narration with no attempt to take on gender voices. Highly recommend and I’ll listen to other books by this author.

This book broke me! Beautifully written, beautifully read and absolutely heartbreaking. I loved it.

Well this book has been highly rated by others but for me it was far too syrupy and obvious. It could’ve been a Christmas Chick Flick! I got bored with the tiresome romance and nobody saying what they really felt. I know this was part of the plot and the “surprise end” but really who is that good looking and fabulous in all honesty. Give me an intense psychological thriller any day. Excellent narration though.

All sugar and no spice

An absolutely stunning book, until the very last part. Beautifully written, but I was expecting an uplifting romantic Christmas story that would leave me feeling warm inside. Instead the writer (masterfully) drops a twist at the end that shocks you completely. Genius writing, but if you're looking to feel good at the end of a book, this would not be for you.

Beautifully written, but not uplifting at all
