What happens when a woman falls in love with her stalker? I'm not the type of woman who actually inspires passion in any guy, much less one who makes it a habit to watch me because he's obsessed. I'm a curvy, plain Jane. I'm an educated geek who would rather have my nose in a computer instead of a fashion magazine. But none of those things seem to matter to Stalker. He sees something in me that I don't see in myself, and I don't know why. I'm terrified, yet I'm inexplicably intrigued.

My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar. Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born. Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day - when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.

Horrible narration..
Good grief. Robin Rowan can't narrate worth a crap. When Ryan came into Asher's office I thought it was a woman with a man's name. It wasn't! It was a man that sounded exactly like a girl. And Asher's voice wasn't any better. If a narrator can't do a man's voice then she shouldn't pretend to be a narrator. Eventually the book is going to say something about Asher's deep sexy voice and that's just not going to happen. He's going to sound just like a girl. I don't know who's choosing these narrators but they do a lousy job. I can see this kind of narration happening in 2009 or 2010 or 2011 but this is 2016, almost 2017, so there's no excuse for this kind of reading. Aren't you women narrators embarrassed doing men's voices that sound just like yours? Ruth Cardello if you're the one choosing the narrators you need to choose someone who can pretend to sound like a man. This narrator ruined the book, I don't care what anyone says. At only 5% I had to quit listening. AND that's a shame.
I would like to say that the description tells us what the book is about or we can zip over to Amazon or Goodreads and look at reviews. This is AUDIBLE! What we need to review is the narrator. Does he or she suck? Why? Is he or she too nasal-y, too sweet for the kind of book he or she is reading, to gruff, too bland, too robotic, lacks emotion. Is he or she doing nothing but reading the book? Not changing his or her voice for the male and female voices? Is the narrator sounding the same whether she or he is reading a whisper spoken?
Most of us on AUDIBLE don't really care what the book is about. We want to know about the narrator!
I'll just READ the book. Never mind the horrid listening.

worst audio recording ever.
the book would have been so much better if they had chosen a voice that matched the characters in the story. The entire time I felt like the characters were misrepresented by The Voice. What should have been strong characters seem weak and timid because of the voices.

Why romance gets a bad rap
Full of cliches- the story meanders through one non-event after another. It's a perfect example of why people say romance novels are simplistic and take little talent to write. Then add a sing-song, breathy narrator and I couldn't wait for the end to come. Giving two stars was generous. Very generous.

Always Weak and Pathetic
Evidently this female author believes that a woman should just fall over and spread her legs the moment a rich, handsome man snaps his arrogant fingers.
Asher was a thoroughly self-centered, greedy man-child who was genetically incapable of generosity, compassion or loyalty. His instant fascination with the naïve Emily seemed implausible, since his only goals in life were wealth and power.
Emily was supposedly sassy and intelligent, yet she had instant sex with a virtual stranger without hesitation or regard for her health. What self-respecting women has an affair with a man who is willing to ruin her personal and professional dreams.
I can't really remember the supposed happy ending, since my mind kept wandering but I don't think I missed much. Always pathetic Emily was such a disappointment!

Narration is key to a good audible book
I am a sucker for a romance but the narration of the book is horrible and the story was predictable. I gave it a chance in spite of the reviews as opinions may vary. However, the narration is horrible. I do not know if technology tools would help. The male voices are bad. I gave the overall story a three. I have read romance to escape for many years and I started with Harlequin romances and Barbara Cartland novels. If you have never heard of Barbara Cartland look her up and skim a chapter of one of her books. The female characters in her books are quite similar to Emily in this one. The story line smacks of a 1970's Harlequin. Naive female with high ideals meets rich man. No means yes, breathless, and bam. Rich man has a change of heart due to the love a of a good woman.

No just no
I think it was a combination of the writing and the narrating, but this book was SO corny. To the point that I just didn’t care anymore. It took me 8 months to finish it, I only had 2 hours left and I finally bit the bullet and just finished so I could make room in my escape account for something else.
Just wasn’t for me.

Better read than listen
I am enjoying the stories but this narrator makes the heroine sound like a 5 year old. I am struggling to listen to them all. Her male voices are good but GUH!!! The female voices!! Horrible!
