Summary

Dax Marshall isn't the type of man a woman takes home to meet her parents. He's a business shark who has never let anything as insignificant as caring stop him from taking over a company. Some call him heartless, but he doesn't see the value of caring about anyone or anything until he meets Kenzi. Her happiness becomes his obsession.

Kenzi Barrington has tried to be the person her family needed her to be, but she doesn't want to lie anymore. When she can't hold a dark secret in another day, she turns to the one man she knows is strong enough to hear the truth. What starts as a simple attraction becomes a friendship that changes how they both define love.

disappointed

Would you try another book from Ruth Cardello and/or Robin Rowan?

I have other Ruth Cardello books and have enjoyed them. This is too heavy on the drama (and although some of the subject matter is intense) , the fact that the family is so focused on a tragedy that many people deal with that they become this dysfunctional is a little overwhelming.

What could Ruth Cardello have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The way the story is written, I don't know that it could have be any better or worse.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Robin Rowan?

I'm not sure, but I don't think I can take this narrator. Unless you are fond of someone talking like an overly breathy Marilyn Monroe, she's not for you.

Was Stolen Kisses worth the listening time?

No. In fact, the narration is so annoying, I'm returning it for my credit. I think for this series , I'll stick to the ebooks.

Any additional comments?

I found that not only was the narration bad, the story didn't have any real depth. Family members had some bad things happen, but really? To have someone have to be so coddled to for fear that her fragile emotions would break is too much. For gosh sakes, get some counceling
Everyone has had something bad happen to them, but you go on.

Voice

Loved the story but struggled with the childlike voice of Kensey. Sounded way too young.

A visit to old friends

A meeting on a beach between a very drunk woman and a man that had felt a tug towards her, when she passed by, results in one very romantic, tumultuous and endearing love story.
Ms Cardello was one of the first author's I encountered through digital books. I find, when I need a time of peace, rereading one of Ms Cardello's stories, relaxes and soothes my soul. Her new books are as restorative as her original series.

narrator has to go

the main character was portrayed by narrator as a 12 year old girl hyped up in a constant sugar rush...absolutely manic...distracted from storyline.

Narrator’s female voice ruined this book for me

The story would have been much better had the narrator used her real voice instead of the awful Minnie Mouse/whiney tone. The voice made Kenzi sound like a weak, pathetic woman. The relationship between Kenzi and her mom was also annoying. And the way the family coddled the mother was ridiculous. I can’t listen to these books with this narrator. Maybe I will read the rest of the books but if the female characters are all this weak, I won’t be able to stomach them either.

Narrator was a challenge

The story was ok the narration was distracting and disappointing. Once I commit I finish but I will listen to more books in this series with same narrator.

Book is great....narrator stinks!

Really need to utilize a different narrator. The female voices are horrible and the men sound like chipmunks. Really need to re-evaluate a different narrator for these books. It’s a struggle getting through these books with this narrator.

Lead female character voice is horrible!

The story was interesting but the voice the reader used for the lead female was so childlike and weak. The other character voices were good but the main character sounding like a child on helium just ruined the story.

Narrator issues

Like the first book in this series, the story is good, characters well developed. I just can't take the high pitched, monotone voices of the female characters. Most female narrators do just an ok job with male characters. Ms Rowan is great with male characters. I just can't listen to another minute of Mini Mouse when I'm trying to believe in a strong female lead.
