Der Autor ist froh: Eine Rundfunkjournalistin hat ihren Besuch angekündigt, sie will sein neues Buch vorstellen. Darin geht es um das Thema Atavismus, um die Rückkehr längst überwunden geglaubter Zustände und Verhaltensweisen. Doch die Journalistin macht keinen guten Eindruck. Sie wirkt nervös, ja krank, und ist ausschließlich mit sich selbst beschäftigt. Mehrere Ansätze eines Interviews müssen erfolglos abgebrochen werden, weil sie immer wieder auf ihren tyrannischen, pflegebedürftigen Vater zu sprechen kommt. Man hat sie gezwungen, ihn aus dem Altenheim zu holen und bei sich aufzunehmen - eine Belastung, die offenbar ihre Gesundheit ruiniert. Der alte Herr hat nicht nur ein Patent auf die gesamte Schöpfung angemeldet, er führt auch einen Prozess gegen Gott.
