Born and raised in Yorkshire, Alison is the author of Richard and Judy best seller A Cold Season; its sequel, A Cold Silence; and the dark Victorian mystery The Hidden People. Winning the Shirley Jackson Award for Short Fiction in 2014, Alison's short stories have been nominated for numerous awards such as Best British Horror and The Best Horror of the Year, and her latest novel, The Crow Garden, was published by Quercus in early October.
