Story
Connecting deeply with our kids can be difficult in our busy, technology-driven lives. Reading aloud offers us a chance to be fully present with our children. It also increases our kids’ academic success, inspires compassion, and fortifies them with the inner strength they need to face life’s challenges. As Sarah Mackenzie has found with her own six children, reading aloud long after kids are able to read to themselves can deepen relationships in a powerful way.

Story
Today's kids have adopted sedentary lifestyles filled with television, video games, and computer screens. But more and more, studies show that children need "rough and tumble" outdoor play in order to develop their sensory, motor, and executive functions. Disturbingly, a lack of movement has been shown to lead to a number of health and cognitive difficulties, such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), emotion regulation and sensory processing issues, and aggressiveness at school recess break.

Summary
A modern, practical, and inspiring guide to creating deep heart connections with kids by regularly creating new experiences and intentional adventures together.
Parents today complain of fragmented relationships with their kids. What parents yearn for - and their kids too - is deep, heart-to-heart connections. But how can parents compete with all the other noise fighting for their kids' attention?
The answer, says Greta Eskridge, is to break free from regular routines and familiar comforts of home to experience new places and adventures - even if those adventures go awry. From simply reading a book together to going on an overnight backpacking trip, activities together provide unique and crucial bonding opportunities. Adventuring Together highlights Greta's stories of doing just that, including:
- an array of ideas for outdoor and indoor ventures,
- what to do when your finances are limited,
- and how to adventure if your family can't hit the hiking trail or spend the night at a campground.
Giving listeners the tools to make adventures happen, Adventuring Together is a step-by-step guide for parents - whether in the city or the country - to start building connections today that will last a lifetime.

Inspiring book filled with tools
What a great book. This has given me the boost I need to keep going, keep showing up, keep investing in my kids. It will pay off....Covid has given me time, time to adventure and reconnect with my kids. We have pursued hiking and finding bioluminescence partly due to Greta’s influence. We have loved it!!! This book reminded me of the importance for it to invest some more, weekly.... It is and will be worth it. Today I read the last chapters and I must admit that I was in tears. Her conclusion chapter touched many of my heart strings. I won’t give it away, but the full circle idea was precious! Have never seen my adult life as a mother with that lens. My future and priorities have shifted. Thank you Greta for pointing out what matters most. What relationships I need to invest in! I initially was disappointed that Greta didn’t narrate her book, but honestly I don’t know how she would have read the Conclusion chapter without getting emotional. But, I actually enjoyed this narrator. She did a very good job! Highly recommend this book for anybody wanting to adventure. She gives practical ideas and hope of how to start just where you are!

A big warm adventuring hug!
I have been adventuring with my kids for a long time now, well, my husband and I were doing it before kids! That being said, this might not be what someone in that category would typically search for, a book like this, but they would be wrong! this book is layered with so much, much more than helping people trying to start adventuring. It has already brought tears to my eyes, astounding aha moments, laughs, reminders of growth in many ways,, and memories of my family's adventures. This book is like a big warm hug to all those that yearn for adventures in all forms, shapes and sizes!!!!

Enjoyable Read
As a mother who loves adventure with her kids, I find this book relatable in a lot of ways. It was funny and heartwarming. It is also a good read for those who dare to seek new adventure or just simply connect with your kids in a different way.

Great Read For Family Adventures!
Better than a simple "How To" for adventuring with kids. Greta Eskridge and Chloe Dolandis fill this book with stories, encouragement and practical advice in overcoming adversity. It's a MUST READ for any adult that wants to get out and navigate the world with their little explorers.

So inspiring
I binged this book in a single day. Greta is so easy to relate to and yet so inspiring in building connections and adventuring with our children. Immediately after finishing it I was inspired to take a road trip with my kids. It reminded me that we don't have to be moms who have it all together or skilled we can just venture out and build those muscles together with our kids. She gives great tips, like holding your kids pack for just a few minutes and then giving it back to them when they are in the training years. I've used that on the trail and it worked like a charm. There is so much more goodness in the book, I highly recommend it!
