Summary

This audiobook invites you on a spiritual retreat with Anthony De Mello. It offers a practical spiritual approach to what people everywhere seek and rarely find—namely, the fountainhead of peace and joy that hides in every human heart. De Mello said the following about what you can expect: "I can promise you this: I have not known a single person who gave time to being aware in this way I show who didn't see a difference in a matter of weeks.

The quality of your life changes, so you don't have to take it on faith anymore. You see it; you're different. You react differently. In fact, you react less and act more. You see things you've never seen before. You're much more energetic, much more alive. You will lose your tension. You will be rid of your fear of failure. Your tensions about succeeding will ease. You will be yourself again, relaxed and at peace. As your illusions crumble, you will look out at the world and say, "My, how different everything looks."

I have read and listened to Anthony many times through the years and regularly in my daily life I will remember one of his sayings like I could ask someone who knows it all to explain the colour green it does make me feel good because the person cannot explain it or I can just be silent and listen without judgement which also makes me feel good

The content itself reflects the depth and insight you would expect from Anthony De Mello, but the audiobook format significantly detracts from the experience. The narration feels disjointed and unnatural, almost as if it has been pieced together from separate recordings.

At times it comes across as robotic and awkward, which makes it difficult to stay engaged.

It also seems that some snippets may have been lifted from Awareness, a work that had far better rhythm and flow in its delivery. In comparison, this feels inconsistent and poorly structured as an audio experience.

In its current form, I would avoid the audiobook. The material is far better suited to being read than listened to in this format.

Disappointing narration undermines strong material
