Summary

Random House presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of A Secret Garden by Katie Fforde, read by Helen Johns.

Lorna is a talented gardener, and Philly is a plantswoman. Together they work in the grounds of a beautiful manor house in the Cotswolds. They enjoy their jobs and are surrounded by family and friends. But for them both, the door to true love remains resolutely closed. So when Lorna is introduced to Jack at a dinner party and Lucien catches Philly's eye at the local farmers market, it seems that dreams really can come true, and happy endings lie just around the corner....

But do they? Troublesome parents, the unexpected arrival of someone from Lorna's past, and the discovery of an old and secret garden mean their lives are about to become a lot more complicated.

The deliciously romantic new novel from the number one Sunday Times best-selling author of A Vintage Wedding, Recipe for Love and A French Affair.

A bit twee.

And they all lived happily ever after. A. It thin- lacking in psychological insights, or something that would make the story more pithy. I did enjoy it & would look at what other books this author has written. Narration OK.

Disappointing!

Any additional comments?

I've enjoyed several books by Katie Fforde in the past but this one is definitely not up to the authors usual standard. A boring plot, hesitant narration with no dramatic characterization.

Not up to Katie Ffordes usual standard

I've actually gone back a few times to check that this was actually a Katie Fforde book - it's no where near her usual standard and in my opinion the narration is awful - the voices are scratchy and inconsistent and the delivery is dull. Really really disappointed as i normally wait with great anticipation for the next Katie fforde book

A perfect story for me.

This book had all the elements I love in life. Romance, gardening, plants & flowers, cake. I adored the characters and enjoyed the story with it's twists and turns. I love that Lorna was a similar age to me and I could really relate to her. The narrator was quite good too.

Not as good as previous novels

I thought the plot was clumsy and clichéed. Katie Fforde has definitely written better novels. The romances were rushed and not particularly believable.
