Judge the book by its cover

I enjoyed the audiobook a lot but I feel like this is one of those books that you need a physical copy, to get the most out of it. All the conversations between the robot and the monk were beautiful, and they are going to stay with me.

Also, yes I would like to buy a poster of the book cover

a cup of tea for the soul

I really enjoyed the book, while the book is short and mostly takes place far away from civilization it does a lot of great world building. I loved seeing the main protagonist being non-binary (using they/them pronouns) so if you are desperate for some well written queer characters and are into sci-fi that tells a positive story about humanities future try this book out

Beautiful

If you think you would like this book, you will. If you have ever in your time on earth needed a break, or cup of tea, or someone to listen, you will like it. If you want a version of a solarpunk future with robots with actual personhood, you will like it. If you want something soft and the space to sob - with a reason you can give an interloper thats not the reason you’re actually crying - you need it. 10/10.

Another good Becky Chambers Novella

Short, queer, explorative and hopeful. Similar in tone to everything Chambers has published so far, but this time set in a not so far away future similar to our own.

Only issue I had was the audio quality of narration; it was clear that the narrator had come back in to rerecord lines each chapter, and they had a distractingly basey/lower pitch. At first it was confused, thinking it was two different (but similar) actors, reflecting the NB-nature of the main character. If it was intentional, it didn't enhance telhe story imo.

I wish I could give 6 stars

This was so good! Also, definitely solar punk! The conversation about purpose 🤯 I wish I read this when it first came out, it would have for sure helped me divest from internalised capitalism sooner 😄 The problem is that it's really bad value for money on Audible (hours of listening -wise), but now I think it's worth every penny/credit.

Having trouble finding your way?

I've now listened to this book for the fifth time. It helps me clarify things I'm struggling with. I love all Becky Chambers' books, but this series is my most cherished.

Loved it

This book was calming and comforting and sorely needed. I felt calm when listening, as if everything is ok and will be alright whatever happens. Having been burned out last year, it felt like it spoke directly to me. A journey that felt like home 😊

Wonderful as always

I had high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed.
The book explores many different concepts and questions that I’m sure everyone has come across. A Psalm for the Wild Built explores these questions calmly and without urgency. Although the questions normally come up in a crises, the book explores them gently and is comforting to the reader. Plus the plot line and world building is really satisfying and sparks your imagination!
I will definitely recommend this book
