Summary

Another Time Another Place, was the first book that Edna wrote about her early life. It was a very popular and an interesting read in its own right when the book was first published in 1994. However, Edna’s family decided it would be a good idea to put the two books together in an omnibus version, for the benefit of listeners who may have forgotten, never heard, or maybe lost their original hard copy.

The story continues to unfold, and of course, has all the ups and downs of normal family life, although the focus this time concentrates on Richard and Edna "taking the big plunge" with the ambitious project of starting a boarding kennels in Skew Hill, Grenoside.

They started the business with nothing, and as you can probably guess, not everything went to plan, but at least what they did have was a home and a place they could finally call their own.

Wonderfully written as you find yourself whisked back in time to a long forgotten and romantic era.

A Yorkshire girl and her family in Sheffield from just before the outbreak of the Second World War and beyond.

An interesting tale of a young girl and her family in those hard times. Often tragic, but balanced with humour and a positive outlook.
The second part of the book is the continuation of Edna’s life after the war, wanting to enter the world of dog breeding and open a boarding kennels with her husband, Richard.

True life Story.

I loved the very personal account written by Edna. The conversational style of the narration made me feel like I was listening to a friend. A good story and a social document of the times.
