About this listen

Sam Goswell thought he had his life under control. He’s navigated a messy breakup with his ex-husband Taylor, settled into a monotonous finance job, and kept his emotions in check. But when Taylor suddenly disappears under suspicious circumstances, Sam’s world is thrown into chaos. As he dives into the search for his ex, Sam uncovers more than just a mystery—he’s forced to confront lingering feelings for Taylor and the emotional wreckage their relationship left behind.

But it isn’t just his unresolved love for Taylor that complicates things. A chance encounter with the charming and mysterious Ali, a local restaurant owner, ignites a new spark. Torn between the pull of his past and the hope for a future, Sam must navigate these conflicting desires while untangling a web of deceit that could cost him everything.

With the police on his heels and dark secrets lurking beneath the surface, Sam’s investigation becomes a high-stakes race against time. From clandestine business deals to dangerous personal liaisons, every revelation pushes him deeper into a thrilling—and deadly—game. As tensions rise, Sam must figure out who he can trust, all while his heart is caught between two men.

A Perfect Alibi is a gripping blend of M/M romance and suspense that will captivate fans of gay romance and thrillers alike, delivering both steamy moments and a pulse-pounding mystery that will keep you listening until the very end.

A new narrator to me. This book starts with audio trigger warnings for self harm, which I didn't find in the written blurb. It's also a MM book, also not clear from the blurb or sample. MM books have a unique dynamic where the MCs have an equality of action and ability, which is why IMO they are enjoyed by woman who are tired of the MF meme where the female is tiresomely often shown as less intelligent and prone to stupid which limits the actual story.

Premise: a time of heartbreak as ex partners are still working in close proximity, one of whom is from a native tribe. In the first interactions with a new friend, Sam lies so automatically supposedly to cover thoughtlessness, but a lie is a lie and never a good start.

The wooden narrator is perfect for emotionless Sam. The story is not helped by the poor editting and lack of paragraph breaks where the audio runs on when there should be a time gap before the day and date chapter headings.
