Summary

1912, London. Eighteen-year-old Flora Butler is going up in the world. She has the prized position of lady's maid to young Constance Ogilvie and is able to provide for her beloved parents and four younger siblings. She has even fallen in love, and though she does not feel quite ready to marry the charming Jamie Branning, her future seems clear. But Flora's life is turned upside down when her mistress' father dies in a tragic accident.

Connie is forced to move to New York to live with her aunt until she comes of age and begs Flora to go with her. Flora has never left the country before and now faces a difficult decision - give up her position, or leave her family behind. But when her beau lets her down, her mind is made up. Soon Connie and Flora head for Southampton to board the RMS Titanic....

Critic reviews

"Goodwin is a fabulous writer. She reels the reader in surprisingly quickly and her style involves lots of twists and turns that are in no way predictable.” (Worcester Evening News)

A maiden's voyage

Another lovely book by Rosie Goodwin and it is so nice when she incorporates a bit of history into her books, the narrator Charlie Sanderson has a lovely voice with all her many characters.
Another book I highly recommend.

Good Story but ..

Unfortunately Rodie Goodwin has fallen into the habit of writing the same story in a dozen different ways. However, this book is slightly different in that it dies twist and turn as you near the end of the story. As usual the ending is fast tracked into a short clipped epilogue. Charlie Sanderson is normally a good narrator but there is one part of this book where she totally gets confused with the voices of the characters. Great book if you have never read any Rosie Goodwin's book before but if you have already read a few - forget it as there is nothing new in this story.

Outstanding book

What an outstanding story, I could not stop listening to the book twists and turns amazing.. I’ve cried, but cannot say any more because it might give the ending away. Thank you to the performance. It was clearly spoken and thank you to the author written the book. I said before, is outstanding 10 out of 10 I recommended for everyone to listen, or to read the book.

A lovely.....

storyline with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.
