Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of Seven Days in June, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is an epic love story one hundred years in the making . . .

Leap years are a strange, enchanted time. And for some, even a single February can be life-changing.

Ricki Wilde has many talents, but being a Wilde isn't one of them. As the impulsive, artistic daughter of a powerful Atlanta dynasty, she's the opposite of her famous socialite sisters. Where they're long-stemmed roses, she's a dandelion: an adorable bloom that's actually a weed, born to float wherever the wind blows. In her bones, Ricki knows that somewhere, a different, more exciting life awaits her.

When regal nonagenarian, Ms. Della, invites her to rent the bottom floor of her Harlem brownstone, Ricki jumps at the chance for a fresh beginning. She leaves behind her family, wealth, and chaotic romantic decisions to realize her dream of opening a flower shop. And just beneath the surface of her new neighbourhood, the music, stories and dazzling drama of the Harlem Renaissance still simmers.

One evening in February as the heady, curiously off-season scent of night-blooming jasmine fills the air, Ricki encounters a handsome, deeply mysterious stranger who knocks her world off balance in the most unexpected way.

Set against the backdrop of modern Harlem and Renaissance glamour, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is a swoon-worthy love story of two passionate artists drawn to the magic, romance, and opportunity of New York, and whose lives are uniquely and irreversibly linked.

This book reads like the best kind of love song: tender, smart and undeniably sexy. Tia Williams simply doesn't miss
Magical and steamy . . . their love story is literally written in the stars
Elegantly blending past and present, romance and fantasy, Williams delivers a gorgeous, transportive love letter to the Harlem Renaissance . . . What begins as a simple romance is elevated by rich history as the story flashes back through Harlem's past, revealing both its glamor and its danger. This vast time span creates an epic feel that never overpowers the tender heat of the romance. It's a showstopper
Through the story of Ricki and Ezra, Tia Williams writes beautifully about our human tendency to romanticise the past, our identities, and love itself . . . Perfect if you loved Seven Days in June and Ashley Poston's The Dead Romantics
Williams's novel is both a love letter to Harlem and a recognition of its history that gentrification cannot erase . . . highly recommended
A truly original romance that is quirky, suspenseful, and unforgettable
Beautifully swoony and full of magic, this charming book is both a love letter to Harlem and to the essence of love itself

The female narrator was so annoying. I couldnt place the pitch at all or maybe it was very squeaky, I couldn’t describe it honestly. I just found it grating altogether. I nearly returned the book for that reason. Male narrator was great.

I enjoyed the book overall and for the most part, the flashbacks were so immersive and really transported me back in time. However yall really lost me when you brought in that plot twist. It took away from the whole story because of how unrealistic it was for me.

Genuinely started feeling like a joke from that point onward. That ruined it for me.

Female narrator voice was grating for meeeee🥲

Absolutely freaking loved this endearing love story brilliantly weaving the past with the present . I loved the how the characters blended together. I loved the history. The narration was fantastic bringing the characters alive so you could feel their joy and pain. I also loved how the author tied in her characters from 7 days in June. Brilliant book…call Tyler…a film needs to be made
