Pulled together because of danger and differences
I had previously read the book and wanted to listen to the audio. I loved the emotion Dave Gillies puts into his reading. The ups, downs, hurt, love, etc. come through clearly and help me remember why I gave this 5 stars for the book. This story has a heroine with a physical imperfection which kept her from being completely comfortable with herself and gave her a dim outlook on her future. Despite all, she was a strong woman and tried to do what she thought was right for her future. The changes brought to her life because of her kidnapping and subsequent escapades. Meg came to realize that she desired more, and that more was Duncan. It surprised her that there were people would who accept and love her no matter what, physical and otherwise. Duncan was such an endearing hero, especially for his willingness to overlook Meg's "deformity". He looked beyond the physical and fell in love with her inner strength and beauty. She became his light when he needed strength to stay alive. I found the secondary characters interesting as well. I highly recommend listening to Dave tell this story.

A Wonderful, Emotional, Exciting Story.
First of all, I have to say that Amy Jarecki writes an absolutely amazing story filled with action, suspense, passion and romance. Her descriptions of the places, people, the food, the clothing etc are so detailed that you can picture every scene. Of course, being able to picture the scene while listening to an audiobook is a huge bonus, especially when said book is being narrated by Dave Gillies.
What a talented man he is, the characters voices, even the female and children ones are done superbly. The male voices he obviously excels at, BUT, oh my goodness, the deep, luscious voice he performs for the main male character, Sir Duncan, is absolutely swoon-worthy, and don't get me started on the bedroom scenes, somebody pass me a fan!
I can't fault this book or the narration of it at all and wholeheartedly recommend it!
