Mortal Engines Series

I have just binge listened to this fantastic series of books. I read them years ago but to hear Philip Reeves world and characters brought to life by Barnaby Edwards made me re-read them. The stories throughout the Mortal Engine series really ignite the imagination, they are so solidly thought out. This is definitely one series I would be happy to listen to over and over.

Terrific book

Loved the whole series, this book convinced me to stop sleeping around and find a wife. It will change your life, I was but a boy before I read this book, now I have blossomed into a man.

(I hope they don't ruin the film now)

Made me sad to finish. Amazing

I thought it was brilliant. Probably the best series I've ever read. Cannot see how the film will live up to the books

A fitting series end

All of the series have been well narrated and this final book ties up all the threads well. Enjoyed them all and an enjoyable listen for children and adults.

Compelling series - great final entry

I enjoyed all 4 books in this series (sometimes called Mortal Engines; sometimes called Hungry City Chronicles) equally. Barnaby Edwards's performance is nuanced and skilled; you can tell right away who's talking and can get to know the characters better based on how he brings them to life. I'm very excited for the movie of book 1 (Mortal Engines), which comes out later this year. Great sci-fi series, highly recommended.

Best ending ever.

By the time you’ve gotten to this fourth book you are already committed to the story so I will spare everyone commentary there. What I will say is that it is exceedingly rare for Sci-fi/fantasy stories to tie up all loose ends and craft such a neat and clean “full circle” which brings the reader back to the beginning and with such a sense of satisfaction.

great ending to a fantastic series

this series was recently ported to the silver screen and that was a pale comparison to the books!! the character design and growth make you feel like you're watching the entire life of some of them. astonishing!!

Of the 4 books, this has to be one of the best.

I loved the newness of book one, and appreciated the character developments if books 2 and 3. But it was by book 4 with flushed out villains and heros you cant help but love, hate, and/or pitty. All in a very original and insane world dreamed up by Reeve. If you find yourself struggling to finish the previous novels, book 4 is the crescendo that made it all worth while.

I liked this series before but now I love it

I got into the series because of the trailers for the movie. I liked the first book more than the movie. I love this series now if only because of the conclusion this book gave it. While the premise is fairly outlandish the characters bring it to life. I would whole heatedly recommend this to almost anyone.

The best for last

A classic for our time, with an amazing message for those who listen. Romeo and Juliet could not understand the depths of this love story.
