Summary

First published in 1843, Charles Dicken's classic morality tale transformed the manner in which the Victorians, and generations to come, would celebrate Christmas. Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge's visitation by three spirits to confront his own past, present, and future in order to learn the true meaning of the holiday season has become one of the most beloved stories in literature.

Adapted countless times to stage and screen, what is often lost from this original text is Dickens' warm and witty narrative voice. The joyful, haunting story comes to vivid life in a performance by award-winning narrator Joel Froomkin.

Excellent Performance Brings Classic Alive

A Christmas Carol is a classic so no need to review the story here, it's excellent and always good to reflect on. There are a number of readings and performances available and this one in excellent and really brings Dicken's work alive. Too often it can be presented with a heavy or serious tone but this one man performance by Joel Leslie Froomkin portrays all of the emotion and humour present too. I've listened to this narrator before so was expecting quality and found it a really enjoyable and accessible performance.
