A rich engaging story with strong characters. I enjoyed how the the past was slowly revealed, bringing light to the present day lives of the characters.

I found this book a struggle to read. I really wanted to like it but the story was so drawn out, it seemed to take ages and many times I wanted to give up but at least I can say I have read something by Hillary Mantel.
