 البهاء زهير هو شاعرٌ من العصر الأيوبي، خالف شعراء عصره في أساليبهم وألفاظهم وأوزان أشعارهم، فآثر البساطة وعدم التكلف و اختيار الألفاظ السهلة والأوزان الشعرية الخفيفة، وكانت له عناية خاصة بموسيقى الألفاظ، ولم يترفع في بعض شعره عن استخدام الألفاظ الشائعة على ألسن العامة، وقد لقيت طريقته إعجاب كثير من أبناء عصره. نظم البهاء في أكثر أغراض الشعر، ولاسيما المديح والغزل والحكمة، وكان ديوان شعره متداولاً في أيدي الناس في زمانه، وقد شهد له بإجادة الشعر ابن خلكان فقال عنه: "من فضلاء عصره وأحسنهم نظماً ونثراُ وخطّاً". وأعجب المستعربون بشعره لسهولته وحلاوة جرسه، فقال فيه الأديب الفرنسي كليمان هوار: "إنَّ شعر بهاء الدين زهير المهلّبي، كاتب سر الدولة المصرية، يجعلنا ندرك ما بلغه لسان العرب من المرونة والاستعداد للتعبير عن ألوف من دقائق العواطف التي صقلتها حضارة خلفاء صلاح الدين الزاهية ". في هذا الكتاب سنبحر في تفاصيل حياة هذا الشاعر لنعرف عنه أكثر وننهل من شعره الذي ما زال متداولًا حتى يومنا هذا.©2019 Storyside (P)2019 Storyside Art & Literature Authors Poetry
