About this listen

At Santa Cruz Central High School, they called them the misfits, the outcasts, the weirdos. But most of us knew them as the Lost Boys....

Miller Stratton is a survivor. After a harrowing childhood of poverty, he will do anything it takes to find security for himself and his mom. He’s putting all his hopes and dreams in the fragile frame of his guitar and the beauty he creates with its strings and his soulful voice.

Until Violet. No one expects to meet the love of their life at age 13. But the spunky rich girl steals Miller’s heart and refuses to give it back.

Violet McNamara’s life hasn’t been as simple as it looks. Her picture-perfect family is not so perfect after all. Her best friend, Miller, is her one constant, and she is determined not to ruin their friendship with romantic complications.

But the heart wants what it wants. As Miller’s star begins to rise to stratospheric heights, what will it take for Violet to realize that she’s the girl in all of his love songs?

I enjoyed reading this book, although I got a bit bored with the long flowery discription setting the scenes at the start of some chapters.

Nice easy read

Very syrupy and sickly in some parts but good nonetheless and a welcome distraction from the trials and tribulations of real life. If only we could all have a happy ending.

Good

I discovered Emma Scott with Bring Down the Stars. I enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as that duet. That said, it’s still a pretty decent book. The characters (both main and supporting) had depth and the plot and pacing were good. It stuck a good balance between having characters with troubles and struggles and having enough light and positive moments that it was enjoyable and not depressing to read/listen to. Both narrators were excellent. I will definitely be continuing the series.

This book kept me enthralled from beginning to end, particularly the voice of Miller. He really drew me into the story as did Violet, but Miller even more so. I also enjoyed the other characters although I would have liked to have heard what happened to them in later years. A great listen!

I absolutely loved this book!

I really loved 🥰 this book. I could not stop listening and It was so well read by the narrator’s. I’ve been looking for a book that had a real love story, but without the needles smut in every other paragraph. Just getting ready to now listen to the next in the series.
Thank you Emma!

Love it
