About this listen

Earth is falling. Will our call for help be heard? The Saints of Salvation is the extraordinary conclusion to Peter F. Hamilton’s Salvation Sequence: a high-octane adventure from a master of the genre.

'The most powerful imagination in science fiction' – Ken Follett, author of The Pillars of the Earth

Live in hiding – or die for freedom

Humanity welcomed the Olyix and their utopian technology. But mankind was tricked. Now these visitors are extracting a terrible price.

For two years, the Olyix have laid siege to Earth, harvesting its people for their god. One by one, cities are crumbling beneath their devastating weaponry. And while millions have fled to seek refuge in space, others continue to fight an apparently unwinnable war.

As Earth's defeat draws near, a team attempts to infiltrate the Salvation of Life – the Olyix’s arkship. If it succeeds, those chosen will travel to a hidden enclave thousands of light years away. Once there, they must signal its location to future generations, to bring the battle to the enemy. Maybe allies scattered throughout space and time can join forces. Yet in the far future, humanity are still hunted by their ancient adversary. And as forces battle on in the cold reaches of space, hope seems distant indeed . . .

The Saints of Salvation is the third and final book in the Salvation Sequence by Peter F. Hamilton.

Critic reviews

Everything readers of Salvation will have hoped for. A series emerging as a modern classic (Stephen Baxter on Salvation Lost)
This is galactic-scale space opera . . . audacious, exciting, funny and just happens to have the most terrifying alien invasion concept I've ever encountered (Alastair Reynolds on Salvation Lost)
Savage, brilliant and compelling. A masterclass in tension and spectacle (Gareth L. Powell on Salvation Lost )
Explosions! Assassins! Enigmatic aliens, spaceships and jump doors . . . Accept no substitutes, this is the real deal. You need Salvation, my friend. Everyone needs salvation (Ian McDonald on Salvation)
The classic Hamilton cocktail of techno-thriller, far-future vision and action adventure shaken to an intoxicating combination. A promising start to an ambitious new series. Science Fiction is in excellent hands (Justina Robson on Salvation)

I always enjoy Peter F Hamilton’s books but the narration on this, out of breath, stilted and poorly emphasised was a bit disappointing. The various attempts at characters voices was at times bizarre. Not my favourite.

Great book, awful narration

excellent book, but as it has been said previously, a bit "wordy" - way too much conversation but still a fantastic story. thank you Peter, you've still got it as a space opera author ; in spades.( hope the reference is not too obscure for non english readers )

salvation?

I'm impressed how this series manages to mix so many different narratives, covering crime-thriller to contemporary sci-fi and space opera whilst still keeping me engaged. I like the more traditional structure as a contrast to how the saints were introduced in the first book.

So many stories tied into one

I genuinely lost sleep over this book, but in the best way! The ideas and concepts, characters and stories that were all woven together throughout it were absolutely fantastic, and John Lee couldn't have done a better job narrating it! My favourite part was Ainsley's reaction after the "slips" caused by the Olyix; I could not stop laughing at the genuinely relatable reaction! Story and Performance were definitely top notch! Thank you both for a wonderful reading and listening experience; I thoroughly loved escaping reality through it!

Best of the Salvation series!

Nice to see all does tied up. The narration wasn't great:-) although he's a stalwart of the genre, his accents are dodgy.

Good end to the series
