A Window Breaks is the nerve-shredding thriller from C. M. Ewan, the author of the acclaimed The Interview and the half-a-million copy selling Safe House, perfect for fans of T. M. Logan and Mark Edwards.

They were supposed to be getting away from their troubles . . .

It's 2 a.m. in a remote Scottish lodge.

You are asleep when a noise wakes you.

You stir, unsure why, and turn to your partner.

Then you hear it.

Glass. Crunching underfoot.

Your worst fears are about to be realized.

Someone is downstairs, intent on causing your family harm.

You will do whatever it takes to protect them.

But with only each other to rely on, can you escape?

Critic reviews

Fantastic – Ewan is a genius at easing you in, and then keeping you there until the story is done with you. Which was 3 a.m. for me, but it’s probably safer to read this book in daylight (Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher series)
Astoundingly paced and plotted, it left me breathless. Totally addictive (Ann Cleeves, author of the Shetland series)
A thrill a minute page-turner with non-stop tension and real heart. I’d highly recommend it (Simon Kernick, author of The Bone Field)
If you only read one thriller this year read this (C. L. Taylor, author of The Missing)
Smashed my way through this . . . A nerve-shredding, lightning-paced home invasion thriller packed with twists and heart (Tim Weaver, author of The Missing Family)
Starts at full throttle and never lets up – A Window Breaks puts you right in the middle of the action and ratchets up the tension on every page. A real rollercoaster of a thriller (T. M. Logan, author of The Holiday)
Brilliantly crafted, excruciatingly tense (Sharon Bolton, author of The Pact)
An absolutely heart-stopping, pulse-racing, thrilling and intelligent read. A sure fire bestseller (Jo Spain, author of Dirty Little Secrets)
An absolutely breakneck ride of a thriller and a masterclass in maintaining tension right up until its poignant end. I couldn't put it down (Fiona Cummins, author of Into the Dark)

A tense and frantic read and I can’t recommend it enough (Merilyn Davies, author of If I Fall)
That rare thing: a heart-thumping thriller with an exquisite understanding of fear, grief and forgiveness. I loved it (Sarah Hilary, author of Black Thorn)
A fantastic thriller! The action is relentless, the situation terrifying, the writing excellent. But what makes it sing are the nuanced and complex family dynamics, and the themes of grief and guilt and love. (Cath Staincliffe, author of Fire on the Fells)
A breathtakingly perfect thriller. My heart rate is only just slowing down. Filled with tension, pace, and heart. Twisty as hell and guaranteed to put a lump in your throat. Brilliant! (Luca Veste, author of The Stranger in the Room)

This is another of those thrillers which had me hooked from the very first sentence. I couldn’t stop listening once I’d started. I read it in one day. You know when you read a book and you know rationally that you can stop and it’ll be there the next day, but you still can’t? When you can’t sleep until you know what happens? That’s what this one did for me. Really well narrated as well. The performance added to the story as much as the plot did. If Psychological thrillers are your thing, this book is definitely for you! My emotions towards different characters changed all the time. I went from hating one, to feeling sorry for them, to disliking another. For me, that’s the mark of a good thriller. I won’t lie, the very end bought a tear to my eye. I can’t recommend this highly enough for its suspense, terror, emotions. I absolutely adored Buster, and was routing for him through the whole book. A must read for my fellow thriller fans. Claustrophobic, terrifying, sad, and at times if you’re like me, you’ll want to hit something!
