Such legendary stories.

Outdated and politically incorrect (!) but a reminder of reading books as a child that inspired a thirst for knowledge and an enduring love for the natural world.

Childhood favourite

Brought back memories of reading these books as a kid in the library. The adventures of Hal and Roger are still really exiting. Really good narrator too. Hope they bring out the rest of the books

John Hunt and his two sons Hal and Rodger take a trip to the Amazon to collect animals for zoos and research centres and explores unchartered parts of the river, making friends, and enemies, enemies with the indigenous peoples along the way. Man easting fish, giant snakes, deadly big cats. Amazon adventure is exciting and informative.

Read this book as a kid and loved it. Now it is on audiobook, I had to get it and it didnt dissapoint. The modern view point on collecting animals and how we talk about indigenous peoples has changed and you feel the difference between now and when the book was written, over 70 years ago but that difference feels informative not critical.

The audio is very well done, injecting drama, fear, tension and exctiment and bringing the characters to life. A must read, or in this case, listen to.

A wonderous adventure every kid should read.
