A love story
This trilogy by L de B is without doubt one of the best stories I have ever read . It has it all, history, love, romance death and the woven lives of a family. Beautifully narrated it is a book am sure I will listen to it again.

Amazing culmination of the series
An amazing culmination of the series interweaved with lovely flecks of the whole LDB cannon. He knows how to shape characters and push emotions expertly.

Magnificent
A fitting end to the trilogy. Yet another triumph for L de B. Having moved swiftly to this, the final book from the second I was not disappointed. Continuing the wonderful character detail, the book is an emotional tour de force. Very well read by the "narrator". Highly recommended.

Great story, narration a bit slow
Loved the story. I put the speed up to 1.1 and that made all the difference.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Trilogy.
From Book One page one to the last page of this the third & final book, i loved it Daniel Pitt is a Giant for me, brave, intelligent & most of all, loving & compassionate in an age where it was unusual to find these characteristics. The first book opens with the death of Queen Victoria & the children grow up in the Halcyon days of King Edward to the outbreak of W1. From the beginning, i loved the fact hat the three families that the story is based on, came from different Countries. The author researched his story meticulously& i also loved the history of different continents & cultures through most of the 20th Century. His characters were beautifully eccntric but believable- all in all, a more than satisfying ‘read’

Wonderful Trilogy
My only disappointment with this book (and the previous 2) is that it’s finished. I feel like I’ve lived Daniel’s life with him, a long, rollercoaster of a life. Moments where my heart was in my mouth and tears in my eyes, followed by joy. LdB creates vivid characters, even minor ones, from the mundane to wildly eccentric. David Sibley’s narration is the icing on the cake.

Delightful and engaging read
Terrific story although I realised this is the last in a trilogy.. It is wonderfuly threaded into the lives of wonderful characters who have all in their own way been changed after the 1st and 2nd world wars

Poignant and fine ending.
A beautiful culmination of this superb trilogy.
Fascinating history of war planes and war tragedies. Empathy and wise philosophies from terrific characters. Dignity and humour in growing old.

Excellent Trilogy
I absolutely loved this trilogy and the final instalment of the 'Ace' is beautifully rendered. Although it is shot through with sadness and loss it is not overwhelmingly melancholy. It seemed to me to proclaim that life is a mixture of luck, be it good or bad, circumstances and the ability, or not, to make the most of it. Honesty, living in the moment and loving those around you seemed to me to be the big messages I took from the books. I would love to see the characters on the small screen in a series adaptation by Amazon that would breath new life into amazing characters living fascinating lives in turbulent times.
