MUSIC, FAME AND A LIFELONG FRIENDSHIP.

Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward met in the school playground when they were four. They became international stars, first as a trio, then, for almost three decades, as a duo.

After finishing school, Sara studied journalism at the London College Of Fashion, while Keren worked at the BBC. They lived in the YWCA before moving into the semi-derelict former Sex Pistols rehearsal room and immersing themselves in Soho's thriving club scene. A year later they teamed up with Siobhan Fahey to form Bananarama. A string of worldwide hits followed, including 'Cruel Summer', 'I Heard a Rumour and 'Venus'. In a male-dominated industry, they were determined to succeed on their own terms and inspired a generation with their music, DIY-style and trailblazing attitudes.

Narrated with humour and authenticity, and filled with never before seen photos Really Saying Something takes us from the early days to the world tours, to party games with George Michael, a close friendship with Prodigy's Keith Flint, hanging out with Andy Warhol in New York and a Guinness World Record for the most worldwide chart entries of any all-female group.

As well as the highs, Sara and Keren speak frankly about the flip side side of fame, revealing their personal struggles and the challenges of juggling family life with a demanding professional schedule.

Really Saying Something is the story of two friends who continue to pursue their dreams their way - and have a great time doing it. It's a celebration of determination and a lifelong friendship, with an unbeatable soundtrack.

'A wonderful, pantomime-like story of self-invention and continuous reinvention.' LITERARY REVIEW

'Their friendship has seen them through their school years, adolescence, bad breakups, motherhood and comebacks, all of which is beautifully captured in their memoir Really Saying Something, which I devoured ... what a nostalgia-fest' KATE THORNTON

Cozy As A Great Friendship

The idea of an audio book had always seemed preposterous to me until Really Saying Something. As a Bananarama fan, it made sense to take advantage of this opportunity and indulge in having Sarah and Keren do the reading. How delighted I am for experiencing this format. The way they performed it was outstanding. Listening to them crack up in laughter transported me and made the whole experience more personal. I found myself often thinking of my best friend. What a brilliant career these ladies have had over the course of almost 4 decades, It has been a real treat to see if all from their end of the fence. Cannot wait for a follow up to the masterpiece that In Stereo is.

Absolutely loved this book. Love the bananas. It was lovely to hear of their lasting friendship and reminiscing about the wonderful 80s.

Loved this book in the first degree

Hearing the girls read this in front of each other felt like a real treat to experience a small element of what is quite a special, unique and beautiful relationship. Thank you for sharing your stories.

A fascinating insight into the life of Bananarama

Most enjoyable and humorous insight into the lives of these two great women of pop! Sharing reading duties they offer a wealth of anecdotes and memories that flesh out their fascinating friendship from little day-dreaming girls in the 70s to the strong, independent women they are today. What I particularly enjoyed are the sniggers, laughs and witty comments they pepper throughout the reading - something you’d not get from the printed book. It just gives it a more relaxed and friendlier environment in which to listen. Highly recommended!

Good fun

I'm not a particular fan of Bananarama but I love 80's music. I enjoyed the story of Keren and Sarah , how they became Bananarama.

They seem nice.

I don’t suppose many people would claim that Bananarama are the most important musical act of all time, but I have always had the impression that they would be fun to hang out with and listening to this is probably as close as most of us will ever get to that. I liked the way that they read it together and the little asides here and there. It’s almost like you are spending a few hours in their company. I thought it was very enjoyable.
