For seven unsuspecting victims, death comes in the dark . . .

Once a luxurious getaway for a wealthy Southern family, the Summer House has long since fallen into disrepair. Its fall from grace is complete when it becomes the scene of a horrific mass murder.

Shocking evidence points to four Army Rangers recently returned from Afghanistan. The Army sends Major Jeremiah Cook, a war veteran and former NYPD cop, to investigate.

As Cook and his team struggle to put together pieces of evidence that just won't fit, powerful forces rally against them to try to ensure that damning secrets are buried along with the victims.

This is my first James Patterson audio book and I was expecting something really good. I was not disappointed. Very well paced throughout, it really kept you thinking and second guessing. I also really enjoyed the narration. All too often poor narration can spoil a perfectly good book, so I was relieved that it was of the same high quality as the book itself. I thoroughly recommend this audio book and look forward to another from this author.

Although a little predictable this did keep my attention for the whole way. The characters were believable and the story was fast paced and strong.
I enjoyed it and would read another book by this author.

Entertaining

My first James Patterson + Brendan DuBois book, pleasantly surprised by a tight well plotted thriller of this genre. Some minor characters appear and disappear as convenient to the plot but pacing means you are kept engaged and of course as always beautifully read by Aria Fliakos

Smart political thriller

I enjoyed this story but boy did it drag on. It could have been more enjoyable if it didn't feel bulked out with waffle. Having said that, the story plot was excellent but it was hard to keep up because of all the needless bits.
Aria Fliakos did a good job with the narration, the reading was clear and concise. At times it was hard to follow which character was at the forefront due to the characters voices were not easily identified,

The story waffles a bit. Good Nrration

The narrator was excellent but story was too predicable with a real slump towards the finale
