©2023 French Hacking (P)2023 French HackingThe topics are good, the French is excellent and a lot of ground is covered in this short time however, as often happens in printed language resources, this audio presentation is stained with left-wing snobbery and scorn - a small percentage to be fair - nonetheless it's there and it stinks. Personally, being a long-term student of French (20 plus years) left-wing sociological slop is an all-too-common feature of learning materials and I find it utterly tiresome. Judging by the content, the publisher has in mind a predominantly young audience, most of whom will likely adopt the opinions of the speaker as they adopt the language of the speaker.
I'm experienced enough to spot this political bias. To be fair, anyone with even a modicum of critical thinking ability, discernment and a pair of eyes and a connection to the Internet will see the lefty slop opinions that sprout up during this presentation.
I'd strongly suggest the authors be less partisan and maintain a neutral stance politically. Nonetheless, there is other subtle and insidious messaging to be found. France, like many western, liberal democracies, does have severe political/ideological problems but this recording would never dare step into that arena so it satisfies itself with criticising only that which it is permissible to criticise.
A pity, because based purely on the language itself, while ignoring the segments if political slop, it's pretty good if not for beginners.
Hence 1 star.
