Dalmatiner Pongo sucht für sich und sein Herrchen Roger Gesellschaft. Wie es der Zufall will, lernen sie Anita und die Dalmatinerdame Perdita kennen. Durch allerlei Tricks schafft Pongo es, dass sich Roger und Anita ineinander verlieben und er selbst Perdita erobert. Bereits kurze Zeit später bekommen die glücklichen Hundeeltern 15 kleine Welpen. Da taucht plötzlich Anitas alte "Freundin" Cruella De Vil auf, die von einem Mantel aus Dalmatinerfell träumt und mit Hilfe der beiden Ganoven Jasper und Horace nicht nur die Welpen von Pongo und Perdita sondern insgesamt 99 Hundekinder entführt.
