『私は海を抱きしめていたい』 戦後を代表する文学作家・坂口安吾が、不感症の女と貞操観念ない男の生活と思考を通して、肉欲に溺れていくことへの限界と自分自身の生き様への限界を美しくも虚しく綴っている。人を求めることへの恐怖心、否定しながらも肯定しつづけいかなければならない人間の人生というものへの苦悩を“海”という自然界の姿をモチーフに感じさせてくれる。 本作品は発表時の未熟な時代背景から、今日の社会では一般的でなく、不適切と思われる表現が含まれている箇所がございます。しかし作品のオリジナル性を最大限に尊重し、なるべく当時のまま忠実に再現することを優先いたしました。
