迷信を打破する立場から妖怪を研究した。
妖怪を、オカルティズムを廃した、科学的見地で把握するために、研究したそうだが、じつは単に好きだったんでしょうと感じられる本書。すばらしい熱意。
むちゃくちゃにオモシロイのだが、明治の論文語体で読みづらいので、原文に忠実に、ナレーターの表現を極力抑えて仕上げたこのオーディオブックでお楽しみください。
ただし、妖怪大好きなお子さんと一緒に聞くのは、まだ妖怪を否定しているだけに思えるかもしれないので、ご注意ください。
