 高校を卒業後、楽に稼ぎ、好きなことをして遊んでいたいとバイトを転々とする日々を送っていた19歳の翔馬。
楽に稼げると聞いて飛び込んだ警備員バイトの仕事先は、まさかの大学の守衛室。

自分は「未来の誰かの幸せのために働こう」なんて思ったことはなかった。
ずっと考えていたのは
「今の自分のお金のために」だ。
そのことに気づいた。
結果として、自分は幸せだなんて思ったことは一度もなかった。
いつだって何もかも思うようにいかなかったし、今の自分の状況を恨みこそすれ、感謝するなんて考えもしなかったのだ。
でも、天野の話に心が震えて仕方がないのはどうしてなのか。
認めたくないが自分が感動しているのがわかる。心の奥底で自分の魂が共鳴しているのが自分でもわかる。本当は自分もそういう男になりたいのだ。
