Story0
In Hop-Scotch Palooka's, Jackson Durocher invites listeners into a shadowy world of dive bars, rain-slicked alleys, and forgotten souls, where each poem pulses with the raw ache of human frailty. Drawing from personal battles with addiction—as glimpsed in pieces like "Olive Green, Soaked in Red"—this collection of poems explores the tender wreckage of love, regret, and mortality. From the suicidal introspection of "I am Hemingway" to the bourbon-soaked lament in "A Jockey Full of Bourbon," Durocher's words paint vivid portraits of palookas and dreamers stumbling through neon-lit nights.

-
Story0
Home Movies is an essay about the day-to-day realities and unrealities of its author’s hypermediated consumer life as a teacher and parent in Orlando, Florida. In each of the essay’s seven sections, Wheaton explores his relationships to new media and old tech, and the people around him, with thoughtful ambivalence and humor. Altogether, the various threads of Home Movies—image, tangibility, fame, nostalgia, simulation, marijuana, and cinema history—pull together into a moving attempt to accept the tensions between watching/being watched and life/art.

The Shorter Byron

- By: Lord Byron, Ernest Rhys
- Narrated by: Denis Daly

Story0
There were two major influences on Byron’s poetry. One was the romantic, which he shared with his friends, Coleridge and Shelley; the other was the eighteenth-century Augustan mode, of which Alexander Pope was the greatest master. Byron’s natural facility with rhyme and metre enabled him to be very prolific, and some critics considered that this precocity resulted in a certain shallowness and facile charm. However, much of Byron’s verse displays both philosophic and emotional depth, and in his more satirical work he evinces a sharpness of perception characteristic of his poetic hero, Pope.
