The lawyer wants an inventory. The realtor wants two hundred words of history. All she has to do is walk through her late parents Oregon coast bar, write a tidy listing, and put a number on the place. But every photograph, carved boat, and pencil mark on the doorframe pulls her back to a British airbase in 1943, where an aircraft mechanic and a radio operator found each other, and to the bar they built afterward for people who had nowhere else to belong. A quiet, character-driven story about inheritance, sacrifice, and the things parents never say out loud, Dustys is a short read, about 20 pages if printed, easy to finish in a single sitting. Pour yourself something and stay a while.©2026 Bill Posner (P)2026 Bill Posner Anthologies & Short Stories Historical Fiction Short Stories World Literature
