Dear Listener,
When I got Covid-19 in March 2020, in the very first wave, there was no knowing what the disease was and how one day might develop from the next. We were walking straight into ignorance. I decided to keep a record which described this new thing which was happening to me. The result was Beat the Devil.
By August of that same year, my monologue had become the first play to open in a London theatre, wonderfully performed by Ralph Fiennes.
Now, thanks to Audible, this story can reach a whole new audience. As we approach the five-year anniversary of the pandemic, I hope listeners recognize the rage and urgency I felt during this harrowing time, and share the discoveries I made both about the disease and the society we all live in.
