My Mind My Hand Writes is a deeply personal collection of over 137 poems written over the course of forty years. In this volume, I share the reflections, questions, and truths that have lived within me—from the streets of New Orleans to the mountains of New Mexico, the retreats of upstate New York, the deserts of Utah, and across oceans to South Korea, New Zealand, and India. This is not just a book of poetry—it is a life's journey set to verse. The very first poem I wrote was inspired by my daughter, Asha Iman McAfee, whose radiant spirit lives in every part of this book.

Story0
Although Kabir (1398-1448, or in the Samvat calendar 1440-1518) was born of Mohammedan parentage, in his youth he became a disciple of a noted Hindu ascetic, Ramananda. As a spiritual teacher, he decried the meaningless rituals of both Islam and Hinduism, and preached a path of righteousness, which involved respect toward all things in creation, and detachment from worldly preoccupations. While his teaching provoked hostility from both Muslims and Hindus, after his death each religion claimed him as a saint.

In Faith, Hope, and Love Inspiration, listeners are invited on a journey through life’s highs and lows. From happiness to sadness, hope, faith, and love are the guiding lights that offer inspiration to cling to beyond all the madness. The author takes listeners by the hand and leads them to the rocky ground, where hope seems lost, and all is quiet. But amidst the silence, there is still beauty to behold. Take a deep breath and look up to see the dancing clouds above the trees. Let the words take you on a journey of the mind, picturing images of loved ones and angels spreading their wings.
