On my kindergarten report, Mrs Greenman, wrote: "Stuart Loves Stories!" so I guess it was pre-determined that I'd become an avid reader and writer. I was born in Zimbabwe, and have lived roughly one third of my life in Africa, one third in Australasia, and one third in Asia. My travel features have appeared in National Geographic Travel, Travel + Leisure, The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, South China Post, etc, reflecting the 75 countries I've travelled to (and 8 I've lived in). Tripbase kindly called me one of the World's Top 100 Travel Writers a little while back. I've been lucky to grace best-seller lists in 3 countries, with over 100,000 copies of my 11 books sold to date. The Telegraph, UK, called me: "The Perfect Storyteller!" which just goes to prove you can't believe everything you read in newspapers. i've also scored the #1 spot on 4 separate Amazon charts. The Missing Years was a finalist in the ASTW Travel Book of the Year, 2009 and rated by The Australian newspaper as one of the best 3 war books that year. When not writing about travel, colonial and military history, I love to tour on motorcycles, and I'm passionate about rugby and world music (especially African jazz and Latin reggae). Thanks for your interest in my stories. That keeps me inspired to discover more ... Stu. A note on 'Hardship Posting': this series of contributed anecdotes which Stu edited was created way back in 1999 and became a wildly successful self-publishing phenomenon. In acknowledgement of the fact that 'the world has changed' since then with the march of political correctness, the series is no longer for sale. Any copies you see on Amazon or elsewhere are 2nd hand copies being sold by re-sellers with whom there is no commercial connection to Stu. Thank you for your kind understanding of our revised situation.
