Peter Harris is the former Health and Medical Correspondent of the Manchester Evening News, a post which took him on assignments throughout the UK and overseas over more than 25 years. He has written three other books: a Holocaust war memoir, "God's Sabbatical Years"; an industrial history of Salford - "Salford at Work" - , the city where he lived and worked until his early twenties: and "A Doctor in Lowryland", an account of life in Salford based on the experiences of his late father, the city's longest-serving GP. "The Filipino Doll" in his first foray into the world of fiction, albeit based on real-life characters and places he has visited. 'It was liberating not be constrained by the hard facts of reportage.
