Grahame Cossum was born and grew up in Northern Ireland and still lives there today, with his wife, a parrot, numerous chickens and their horses. He is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner and has also worked as a personal trainer and swimming teacher. More importantly, he is a lifelong student of the human mind. He overcame a serious accident and suffered from depression for a decade, before finally managing to overcome it. This experience was partly what motivated him to begin writing and his first book, Make Peace with Your Harshest Critic, is a self-help book which is available through Amazon. In it, Grahame coaches his readers to achieve peace of mind and control in their everyday lives. Grahame spends much of his time writing. In the past, he was keen on archery and shooting and at one time was the Northern Ireland air rifle champion. He also enjoys relaxing with friends and family when he has the opportunity. Grahame hopes that his books will encourage others to overcome their own battles in life and allow them to move on to better, happier and more successful things. Update: I now have three titles available on Amazon. (1)Make Peace With Your Harshest Critic: You. (2)Focused Awareness, Take Control of Your Life. (3) Understanding Depression Just cut and paste the title into the search bar to access. Here's an in depth review for Grahame's latest book Understanding Depression. I finished reading Grahame Cossum's book "Understanding Depression" yesterday. My first impression after reading through approx. one-third of the book was... I wish I could send this book back in time and force myself to read it, make all my family and friends read it, make EVERYBODY read it. It explains so much better than I ever could while I was under the influence of the black dog just how depression was affecting me. During the periods I have suffered depression it seemed to be impossible for me to explain just how it was affecting me. Talking about it, even finding the words to talk about it, finding the words to get others to understand just seemed impossible. It seemed impossible to explain how it was stealing my strength, stealing my will to do anything that might help me, stealing everything that made life worth living. This book does that. If I had had this book it would have given me the words I needed. THAT... was just from reading through the first third of the book. Now I have finished it. Depression is a difficult subject to tackle. The book is titled "Understanding Depression". I believe it is impossible to have any understanding of the effect depression has on a person without having experienced it first-hand. Grahame Cossum HAS experienced depression and DOES understand the problems of people that suffer from it. Plus, he knows how to tackle this subject and make it easier for others to understand it... including others that suffer from it, that too often do not understand much of what is happening to them. This book takes the reader through "101 Essential tips and insights you need to know". "Essential" is right, every chapter gives essential information. Everything here really does help with understanding and coping with this debilitating condition. What else did I get from it... I got some insight into the how and why of other sufferers feelings and behavior. Some of it is very different from my own experience. I really liked seeing lots of emphasis on getting therapy, I strongly believe that therapy is an essential weapon in the fight against depression. I found this book to be enormously helpful, it clarified aspects of depression that sometimes confused me, and sometimes bewildered me. I thought I was fairly knowledgeable... after all, I have half a lifetime of experiencing depression, often severe. This book gave me valuable insights and guidance into the condition. Depression is insidious in our civilization I believe everybody needs to have some understanding of what it is and how it affects those that suffer it. This understanding is badly needed to reduce fear of the subject in so many people... I believe it is this fear that is the ground of the stigma surrounding depression and mental illnesses in general. People are afraid of things they don't understand and will often attack these things. This book can help people understand. I recommend it without reservation.
