I am Luther Guin, and I spent most of my adult life working with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. When I retired in 2013, I knew that I would need something to do, or I would eat myself to death. I wanted to do a novel but I have never been trained as a writer. I figured I could write my autobiography, but no one in their right mind would be interested in reading my story. I needed to create a subject, and interesting character, and write his story, as if that character was the one who was doing the actual writing. I am a big fan of American football, and I've read a few autobiographies from actual players, so I believed that was a good place to begin. I wrote XL7- The Story of Xavier Lysten. I thought I'd done a good job, but I found it next to impossible to convince people that it was worth reading. Somewhere in the middle of the night, while I was contemplating my mistake, I came up with another idea. This idea dealt with alien beings from another world. In todays world there are no shortage of people who believe in such things, but what about the people who lived in the early twentieth century? How would they deal with such a thing if they saw one, or better yet, what if they were abducted by one? I wrote BIG ORANGE FLYING DINNER PLATE. That is the extent of my writing , so far. I believe that both of my books are good books, and would be well worth the time for the people who are interested in those subjects. I just need to find ways to bring them to people's attention.
