Katya Kazbek is a queer bilingual Russian/English writer, translator, and editor of Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, and Jewish heritage, who lives and works in New York City, NY. She writes about the world’s cultures for supamodu.com and elsewhere. A previous graduate of Oxford’s writing MSt program, Katya got her MFA from Columbia University in 2019. Her first novel is “Little foxes took up matches”, a queer coming-of-age story set in Moscow right after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Katya is interested in translated literature, foreign film, and world music that focus on social and working-class issues, and/or center queer, Indigenous, and outsider perspectives. She likes moles and walking all over NYC’s Five Boroughs with her partner. Any pronouns, just be kind.
