Charles Davies is an independent journalist who started his career in journalism over 25 years ago. He is also a business owner. Charles is African British; he emigrated to the UK in 1997 following the brutal civil war in Sierra Leone in West Africa. He attended state schools and studied Journalism at the University of Sierra Leone. He has an MA in Media from Thames Valley University, UK now The University of West London. Before emigrating from Sierra Leone, he was the editor of Christian Monitor, the only Catholic newspaper in the country. Since then he has written for various media organizations and has edited magazines, including Africa Analysis and New Africa Analysis (NAA) in the UK. He successfully managed and edited NAA in the UK for seven years, collaborating with University College London (UCL) on development of the business model and overseeing subsidiary operations in South Africa, Uganda, Ghana and Sierra Leone. NAA in its original format was shuttered in 2016 in the UK. He is a strong believer in a fair and independent press in a truly representative democracy.
