Avril Carruthers was born in Zimbabwe of Scottish ancestry and migrated to Australia with her family at the age of ten. After a variety of careers including nursing, teaching in NSW high schools and owning/running various small businesses, she began training in counselling and psychotherapy. Many years as a meditation practitioner and teacher developed into a co-practice as a spiritual healer. She has had a private practice in transpersonal psychotherapy and healing for over twenty years in Sydney, Australia and currently teaches at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. A self-avowed mad film fiend, she loves reading, watching her stage actor husband act, playing with her cats, gardening and training at the gym. She has one adult daughter.
