Coming home to find my boyfriend in bed with another guy is not how I expected my birthday to go. When my two best friends find out, they help me with moving my things out of the apartment and trying to find a new roommate. In the meantime they take me out to get my mind off Zach and get laid. I’m really not sure I’m up for it, but I let them drag me out anyway. I’m not exactly the cream of the crop when it comes to the dating pool, and all of the messages I’ve been getting from Zach since I broke it off with him are only solidifying that in my mind. To my surprise though, not only does a guy notice me, he’s got to be the hottest guy I’ve ever seen. But when I finally gather my courage and try to spice things up with him, it goes horribly wrong and I run away mortified and in tears. My only saving grace is that I’ll probably never see him again. But then I see a response to my ad looking for a roommate, and when I show up to meet the guy the following day and take a look at the apartment, who should answer the door but Hottie McHotness himself. Just shoot me now.

When I spotted the adorable little twink in the bow tie and suspenders at the club I was instantly attracted to him. All that wavy brown hair and the cute as hell glasses. But when he runs away in tears, I’m terrified I’ve done something to upset him, and I don’t know how to make it right. When he shows up at my doorstep the following day and I realize he’s my potential new roommie I can’t believe my luck. He seems nervous and shy, but so sweet. The more time we’re together, the more I realize what a number his turd of an ex did on him, and I’m determined to make sure he knows how amazing he really is, and that he deserves someone who will appreciate and care for him. As the weeks go on I’m hoping more and more that that someone can be me.
CW: On page emotional abuse and cheating by a previous partner, one mc has needle phobia and noise sensitivity, and there is some brief on page anxiety.

Rory is a cutie who's been through a toxic relationship. He lost his confidence, he is struggling to see the good in himself and sometimes hard on himself because of that. This story basically starts with him trying to put himself back together, and this book is him finding himself again. He is not an easy person due to his conditions, but this doesn't make him less than...
Parker... oh, my sweet himbo baby. He is basically the sweetest person in the world. For real, he is the best. I found it funny that they were watching TBBT in the book ( my fav show BTW, so... extra points for that... good taste ) since Parker struggled to understand sarcasm just like Sheldon.
As I said he is the sweetest boy, and Rory's biggest supporter. They went from hookup gone wrong-to roommates-to friends-to lovers, and it was beautiful to see their relationship evolve.
Parker is exactly what Rory needed, and I loved how emotionally mature he is. I guess when you have a big family is bound to happen. Parker is the embodiment of masculinity. He is secure with who he is, he is caring, and is not scared to show his emotions... he is a girl's dream, I swear... and I guess a guy's dream as well. He needs to be protected at all costs.
Rory found in Parker the person who will accept him just as he is. The person who will not try to change him. The person who will love him unconditionally, and will give him that safe space we all need. The love these two share is beautiful in a simple way. There's no grand gestures, no show, just two people showing up for each other, two people who chose each other every day, over and over, and over again.
Parker was also the one who healed something that he did not break, and for that I will always love him.
I smiled almost the whole time I listened to the audiobook ( except the moments when Rory was telling us about his struggles or his past toxic relationship - there's nothing fun in that ). The narrator did a fantastic job so, if you are a fan of audiobooks, this one is for you. It is a fast, mostly light read that will bring you a big smile on your face and will raise your standards in men a bit more.
This book is the perfect example that you don't always need a heavy book to talk about difficult or sensitive topics. If done right you can write a funny story that will send the message across loud and clear.
I had many thoughts while listening and now I'm a bit mad at myself for not writing them down cuz I feel like I missed a lot of points, but the jist is that this book is definitely worth it.
I will give it a 5✨️ because it made me smile, it made me laugh, it made me think of things, it was hot, and the characters are amazing.
