An obsessive psychopath must be stopped whilst Detective Superintendent Roy Grace also deals with a very personal mystery in Want You Dead, by award winning crime writer Peter James.

Grace’s wife Sandy is officially declared dead after being missing for a decade, allowing him to marry the mother of his baby son. But Sandy’s disappearance is unexplained for a reason.

Bryce Laurent doesn’t want his ex-girlfriend to move on. Terrified by Bryce’s dark side, she seeks police protection. But Bryce will not be stopped, determined to destroy everything and everyone she has ever known and loved – and then her too . . .

Although the Roy Grace novels can be read in any order, Want You Dead is the tenth thrilling title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with You Are Dead and Love You Dead.

Now a major ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm.

Peter James always delivers. I'm on 2014. Just hope he doesn't fall into the PC trap like the TV version as years go by

Always too drawer

I nearly gave up on this book after the first few chapter as I was sick of the "texts" and the constant referals to Reds sex life. But I persisted because I wanted to follow Grace, Sandy and Branson's story. I am so glad I did. It turned out to be another fantastic book. (Just doesn't need all the daft texts!)

Carry on its worth it!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would, because it is engaging, realistic and has well fleshed out characters that you actually care about.

What other book might you compare Want You Dead to, and why?

Another entertaining crime thriller, such as The Murder Bag or the Apple Tree Yard. Has a kind of Fatal Attraction vibe with the genders reversed and much, much less 80's.

Have you listened to any of Daniel Weyman’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't but he does an outstanding job, every voice is clearly defined and recognizable as a different character. His interpretation of Bryce sounds like Hugh Jackman incidentally.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

He will stop at nothing to unite them...in death.

I apologize for the cheesiness of that slogan, but it is what it is.

Any additional comments?

Worth a listen, but it won't change your life or ruin it. If you live in or near Brighton you might appreciate the geographical references, making it feel more real so definitely give it a shot.

Thrilling game of cat and mouse
