Introducing the new, unabridged version of The Infirmary by LJ Ross, the author of the international number one best-selling series, the DCI Ryan Mysteries.

There's a serial killer targeting the streets of Newcastle, seemingly picking his victims at random but subjecting them all to the same torturous end. When the chief inspector on the case goes missing, it falls on DCI Ryan to track down the man who is brutally murdering women and goading the police to 'catch me if you can'.

As everyone becomes a suspect, Ryan and his team get drawn further and further into the case, but for Ryan the nightmare gets closer to home than he could ever have imagined.

I am listening to the books in order and this is number 11, but is actually the prequel to the first book. It doesn’t give anything away so would strongly recommend reading this one before Holy Island. I wish I had! I felt a bit disappointed when I realised it wasn’t a continuation from book 10.

Prequel to “Holy Island”

Really good to learn what happened prior to book 1 Holy Island. Great story line and brilliantly narrated by Jonathan Keeble

Great prequel to Holy Island

It was a bit confusing at first, and I must admit I went back into my library to check what number book it was, then read some reviews and everything became clear. Once over the initial confusion I soon settled in to another great book by LJ Ross, being from the northeast - I always love hearing different areas being mentioned, especially in this one were they mentioned my home town Jarrow 💚

Good listen!

it was great to hear how it all started but it would have been better if it was book one in stad off book 11

This is book 11 and a prequel, this was a tough read as you know what is coming because it’s personal to DCI Ryan and all the way through the book I kept wanting to read on and at the same time I did not want to know. Reading this was harrowing and I got so engrossed and involved in the plot that I could feel DCI Ryan’s pain and anguish. You get to understand his reasoning for going all out to try to save victims of crime. He has a skill of getting into the dark mind of the killer/killers, I absolutely love the dynamics of his team.

I recommend the Audible all star performance version and listened to it which shows the book in a different light. Excellent and gritty read and listen.
