From the number one international best-selling author of Holy Island and Impostor.

From the shadows into the light....

When a fishing boat is wrecked off the treacherous North Sea coast and the body of a young woman washes up on the beach beside the iconic ‘Marsden Rock’, DCI Ryan cannot ignore the call to duty.

With one already dead and more human cargo missing from the wreckage, Ryan and his team race to find the remaining souls - before it’s too late and their investigation turns to murder. As they uncover the seedy underbelly of Tyneside, cold and calculated opportunism clashes with the rock-hard arm of the Law, but there’s one thing that proves stronger than stone....

The human spirit.

Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit set amidst the spectacular North Eastern landscape.

I struggled to finish this book by one of my favourite authors. Really nasty subject matter.

not up to earlier standards

The Performance, with all the accents, was amazing. I was gripped by this book and ended up listening to the whole thing in 2 days. I will be listening to many more of LJ Ross' detective stories!

A Really Great Who Done It!

I really enjoyed the next installment and my Ryan fix, intriguing, compelling a good police mystery, Samantha is becoming a favourite as well, just love Phillips over protectiveness, narration by Jonathan Keeble brilliant as ever

Another brilliant book in the DCI Ryan series

I've listened to all of DCI Ryan's exploits, excluding The Infirmary, and found them very enjoyable. Whilst I enjoyed this story there were a couple of uncomfortable aspects. The lovey-dovey relationships have become a little too saccharine -like for my taste and the theme of the story did not make for pleasant listening at times, although I suppose is based on real-world happenings. The reading by Mr Keeble was excellent, as usual.
