Christmas can be deadly…

After a long year of crime-fighting, DCI Ryan and his team are looking forward to a peaceful Christmas filled with festive treats – including the occasional turkey stottie, or three. To celebrate a job well done, the entire team are treated to a party at beautiful Belsay Hall, a spectacular country estate on the outskirts of the city. But, when their dinner is interrupted by the untimely arrival of a dead body, they’re reminded that crime never sleeps – and nor do the secrets within the walls of Belsay.

It's time to find out who’s been naughty or nice…

Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit, set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

I continue to love the characters, and for that reason, believe I will read any further DCI Ryan Mysteries. However, Belsay was far too short and so predictable.

A little predictable

A really fast moving plot which is not easy for the listener to solve and has a good twist to it. The usual characters’ back story is equally compelling especially for someone like myself who has followed the whole series from Book 1 - Holy Island. Jonathan Keeble has as usual narrated this most recent book by JLRoss and I hope he continues to do future books too. The characters all sound natural, whether male or female and are easily recognised. I forgot to mention it ends with a shock which leaves everyone waiting avidly for the next book to be released! All in all a very entertaining listen.

Another great story

A relatively short story and slightly disappointing because of it, but fleshing this story out may have diluted it. Quality vs quantity.

Short but sweet

Another enjoyable listen, I just wish it was longer. You know the author is brilliant when you pray and look forward to every new copy because you are excited to see what happens with each character and you know the narrator is the best one for the job when said character comes alive in your mind. I really hope this isn't the last i hear of DCI Ryan and his awesome team and friends.

Not long enough

Fast moving. Good characters well drawn. A smidge predictable sometimes if you’ve read the previous books in series.

Relationships of the team.
