Beautiful heiress Judith Taverner has her pick of London suitors.

But her luck takes a turn for the worse when her hapless brother, Peregrine, becomes the target of a would-be-assassin.

To Judith's great annoyance, their mysterious guardian - the handsome Earl of Worth - seems far more intent on wooing her than saving her brother, but all is not as it seems...

When the truth is revealed, Judith will finally discover if the Earl is after her money or her heart.

A writer of great wit and style-. I've read her books to ragged shreds.
My favourite historical novelist -- stylish, romantic, sharp, and witty. Her sense of period is superb, her heroines are enterprising, and her heroes dashing. I owe her many happy hours.
Wonderful characters, elegant, witty writing, perfect period detail, and rapturously romantic. Georgette Heyer achieves what the rest of us only aspire to.

Enjoyed listening to this. Very good narration - intonation, character voices, and speed appropriate to the story. Only noticed one mispronunciation - of the word phaeton. This did not detract from the overall narration. GH overdid the historical details about clothing, transport, prize fighting, geography and decor in this book. Some of the later books have better character development and just the right amount of historical detail.

Enjoyable, very good performance by the narrator

What a horrible world Heyer's characters inhabit! She has a gift of portraying the dystopian horror of 19th century England with a light touch, and the narration is excellent.

A lovely story with great characters. Well read and only let down by the mispronunciation of phaeton.

A very entertaining experience. The narrator brought the book alive and I enjoyed listening to every second.

Regency Buck Entralls Again

Regency Buck is not one of my favourite Georgette Heyer novels but I thoroughly enjoyed this version narrated by Jasmine Blackborow. She is very adept at giving each character his/her own voice and entertains the listener with a very good idea of what is going on in each of their minds with her wide expressive range. An intelligent reading indeed! It would be a delight to hear her narrate such novels as “Bath Tangle” and “Black Sheep”.
